Shock wave accelerates the body's own healing process as a purely physical treatment method: Through a process called cavitation, shock wave stimulates fibroblast and tenocyte production of human body. Fibroblast or tenocyte cells make up human bodies' connective tissues, such as tendons and the fascia. Shock wave diminishes pain by over-stimulating the nerves that send pain sensations to the brain. The procedure can break down pathological calcification deposits (well known as a spur on feet).
